Everyone thank you for keeping us updated on your installation process. I had a charging station installed in my house this weekend as part of starting Delta PowerSystems, and it did require "extra" work beyond what we'd consider a standard install. Sounds like we agree with your inspector as it pertains to the "extra" work, that will probably be a separate charge from a local installer to get it to a standard install. Standard install will be a fixed price. There are a couple charging stations available to purchase right now, and they will work with any EV. However, does anyone know if Nissan will still honor the warranty if a non-AV charger is installed? We are a dealer for Clipper Creek chargers and have a network of electricians pre-screened nationwide. We started our company because we agree that this is "most important piece of this whole venture" (from cashmiric). We're also in talks with several other manufacturers, as we think it will be an open market.

I had my assessment today and it went well. Took only about 20 minutes and they guy said that all he has to do is install another breaker and then the charging unit. He said it should be a fairly quick and easy install. He also said that the installations should start about end of September to beginning of October. He also said that I may not get my quote until about a week or 2 because a lot of other people have had to wait a while for the e-mail. He guessed there was something wrong with the e-mail system or something to that effect. So, now I just have to wait for the e-mail. It sounded to me like it might not be as high a cost as other quotes I have seen so far online!

If I can go to a public charging station with the car how would they not honor the warranty if you do not get the AV charger.  Same difference.

Good point MaryAnn. I was thinking the same thing. I don't see how a warranty can be tied to the charging station that you use.

MaryAnn - I don't think you're right about Nissan making decisions based on people's ease of installation. My anecdotal evidence is that I am in the August order group, and yet from my survey answers they have deemed me "potentially too expensive" for the standard installation credit. They haven't even gotten around to sending someone to my house for an assessment (I am in Los Angeles, don't know how common that is).
